Hello and welcome to my review on Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles – My Christmas Present To My Husband And Myself!
After posting my article “WALKING STICK, HIKING POLE, OR TREKKING POLES – FINDING THE BEST FIT FOR YOU”, I realized that as a lover of hiking and camping, that trekking poles were something I knew nothing about until I had recently researched them for my post. It was time to “practice my preaching”, and really look into a set for my husband and myself!
I searched for trekking poles at Sporting Goods Stores, and found many great sets, but honestly, their price caused me to back off a little. As a first-time user of trekking poles, I really didn’t want to invest that much money into something to start off with.
I began searching on Amazon, and after locating quite a few very reasonably priced trekking poles, I finally made a selection and ordered the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles as a Christmas Present for my husband and myself. I must say that “Santa” did an excellent job on this Christmas Present – my hubby and I are 100% pleased with them!

As you can see from the Comparison Chart above, the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles hold their own with 4.7 out of 5 stars, and in price, there is only one brand that costs just $1 less, making them an exceptional buy!
As far as my and my husband’s experience with the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles, it has been 100% great from the time we opened the box from Amazon!
There was a tag on the carry case that gave a few basic guidelines on how to adjust the trekking poles, along with a website address to Cascade Mountain Trekking Poles for additional information on using the trekking poles, how to change the tips and baskets, and the proper use for each of them.
Setting them up to fit our heights was very easy. Once you get the pole height adjusted correctly, the instructions tell you to make sure you have the adjustment screws tight enough and the push-in latch is locked properly. To test the trekking poles, you are advised to put the tips on the ground, one at a time, and push down with your weight. If the screws and locks are adjusted properly, the trekking poles will not slide back into themselves. I had to have my husband get the screws tighter and push in the locks for me, because I do not have very much strength in my hands. He said the adjustment was very simple, and after he adjusted his and mine, both sets of trekking poles held up to our weight bearing down on them just fine, with absolutely no slipping into themselves at all.
On our first hike, which was on our 1/2 mile gravel driveway, with the last 1/4 mile uphill, we were surprising pleased how much the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles helped us make it to the top of the driveway! From the very beginning of our hike, just using the trekking poles in the proper way – pulling your arms out from your shoulders, not just from your elbows, to get a full range of arm, shoulder, core, and back muscles engaged, we could feel a major difference in our step distance increase.
Using this same method of walking with the trekking poles, we started on our 1/4-mile ascent to the top of our driveway. We were really amazed at the difference the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles made in our ability to hike much easier, with the trekking pole tips digging into the gravel, helping us to propel forward and upward with much greater agility. We made it to the top of the hill faster and easier than ever before!
Before our descent back down the driveway, we lengthened the trekking poles to account for how the downward slope would affect the proper 90 degree angle the trekking poles should have. Again, we were very pleasantly surprised at the amount of confidence and stability they gave us as we hiked down the hill at a much faster, easier pace than usual!
In conclusion on my review of Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles, I can honestly say that they have definitely helped my husband and I hike with much greater ease, stability and confidence, and they are giving us a much better full body workout, along with more calories burned, which is helping us get in shape much faster.
My husband and I give the Cascade Mountain Tech Trekking Poles 5 STARS – and we recommend them 100%. Give them a try – for the great value and exceptional quality you receive with these trekking poles, you cannot go wrong!!

That is a very interesting post. I have seen people with trekking poles before and to be honest I thought it was because they had walking difficulties. However, from reading your post I now have a totally different understanding of their purpose. I love walking, so they are something that I will now seriously consider.
It is really useful that you are talking from experience and that you have explained how to use them. Perhaps you could explain to me what you mean about pulling your arms out from your shoulders, rather than using your elbows. But perhaps that will be clear as soon as I hold them.
Do you always need two, or can you operate with just one?

I totally understand why you thought that trekking poles were for someone with walking difficulties – in fact, I used to think the very same thing! ; ) But, after researching them, and finding out all the benefits they offer, I knew they were something I just HAD to invest in!
I would like to invite you to read my post “Walking Stick, Hiking Pole, or Trekking Poles – Finding The Best Fit For You” – this will give you all the information you are looking for to the advantages of each one – and please feel free to leave any comments, suggestions, or questions you may have!
In trekking poles, I definitely recommend having 2 poles – they will make your walking/hiking stride much smoother, plus give you the added benefit of a whole body workout. As far as “pulling your arms out from your shoulders and not just your elbows” when using trekking poles, you really need to PULL from your shoulders as you propel forward (just practicing this right now, you can feel your shoulder, back, core, and arm muscles engaged in this movement). If you only move your arms forward from your elbows, it kind of feels like “little munchkin steps! : )
You will have to let me know if you do invest in a set of trekking poles, and how you like them. They will definitely add many benefits to your hiking adventures!
